It's an authentic leather that isn't sanded down to look uniform. Because it is impregnated with oil, it's also very low maintenance. As you use it, the oil falls will change color due to the oil shifting around in the leather. If you give the red falls a little pinch, you'll see them turn a lighter red, and then you can buff it to redistribute the oil.
